Introduction – MI vs DC Match Highlights
With Delhi coming in with consecutive wins so far, one would think Mumbai’s going to have a tough time. But on April 13, the Arun Jaitley stadium had different plans for their home team. Of course, till almost the end, no one could tell who’d finally win. But in the to and fro, MI finally clinched the title. They came in to prove themselves and they did with their 12 run victory over DC.
Match Wrap-Up
With Delhi coming in undefeated, Mumbai Indians really needed to up their game. Batting first, they seemed like they’re there to own the match this time. After the initial blowout, the players dutifully aced up. Among these were the energetic Tilak Verma with his 59 runs off 33 balls, and Ryan Rickelton smashing 41 runs from 25 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir too joined in, with 40 runs from 28 and 38 off 17, respectively. By then end, they had gathered 205/5 score, one beating which would require some solid strategy and gameplay.
Then came Delhi’s turn to bat. They had a huge target ahead of them to reach and Karun Nair put up a brilliant one-man show. His 89 off 40 is noteworthy and deserves special appreciation. His grit and aggression gave Delhi a good start but it would’ve been great if the following players matched up. But what happened was quite the opposite. DI lost one wicket after another, a dramatic three in a row, restricting DI to 193 runs in 19 overs.
The home team fell short of 12 runs to enjoy their consecutive win. Perhaps, this match broke their win streak and they got their reality check.
MI vs DC Match Highlights
- Tilak Varma’s Innings: Stabilized and then accelerated MI’s innings with calculated aggression.
- Karn Sharma’s Spell: Derailed DC’s chase with two huge wickets in one over.
- Bumrah’s Crazy Over: Three run-outs in one over. Enough said.
Conclusion
With this win, Mumbai has conveyed their message that they’re still in the game. They defeated a home team while themselves being under a lot of pressure. As for Delhi, it is a call to come out of the bubble. Three consecutive wins did not promise yet another sure victory, and a previously losing team could still come back in form as MI did.
