April 16’s match was all that a thrilling encounter is supposed to be – unpredictable, fiery and bold. Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals were in a neck-to-neck competition at the Arun Jaitley stadium, Delhi. DC scored 188/5 and Rajasthan chased just enough to end up in a tie. What followed was an unexpected tie breaker, the first ever Super Over of the season! And, Delhi clinched the victory, climbing up the score table at the second position. Mitchell Starc became the man of the match.

DC came to bat first. They started with a calm and composed innings, with Abhishek Porel falling short by just one run to score a half century from 37 balls. Good job, nonetheless. KL Rahul’s 38 runs and skipper Akar Patel’s 34 off 14 balls brought the team closer to their 188.
Even though Rajasthan’s bowlers, especially Jofra Archer, gave DC a tough time, they still could make it to the big numbers. The Capitals had done enough. Or so they thought.
RR started their chase with a flash with Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both the openers did an outstanding job, especially Jaiswal flying the ball off Mukesh Kumar. Even though the skipper Samson had to retire due to an injury, the duo collected 63 runs in the powerplay. Nitish Rana, too, played a crucial role and contributed 51 runs before he was out.
By the end of 19 overs in the chase, RR needed just 9 more runs to win the match. It looked easy but it was not. In came Mitchell Starc to bowl, preventing RR to score just what they were aiming to. Sharp deliveries and utter precision could restrict RR to just 8 runs in the final over, leading to a tie. This was the least that was expected to happen but we were now headed to a Super Over.

Even in the Super over, where RR batted first, Starc limited their runs to 11/2. As for DC, KL Rahul and Stubbs stepped in to chase 12, hit a combination of boundary and six to not just win this match but also go to almost the top of the score table. All of this in just 4 balls? Commendable!
Conclusion
This is not just a win for Delhi, it is a statement. With just one lost match so far, they are sitting at the top of the score table, ready to face come what may. After all, who’s here to lose anyway?
