As per the reports of BCCI, the deadline to submit the player retention lists is 31st October 2024. What are the Player Retention Rules?
In regard to the Mega Auction for IPL 2025, the BCCI also released a list of rules for player retention. Let’s take a look at them:
Every team can retain only 6 players including both retention or right-to-match (RTM) cards.
Only 5 capped Indian or overseas players were retained.
In the case of uncapped players, only 2 can be retained in the team.
Any Indian players who have not played any international match or any match authorised by the BCCI in the last 5 years, will be considered as uncapped players.
The auction budget for each team has increased to INR 120 crores.
There must be a salary slab for retained players.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed that one team can have a 5 +1 combination of players. This means 5 capped players who have played international matches and 1 uncapped player in the team. However, the salary slab for uncapped players is reduced or less than that of capped players. They also revealed that the salary slabs for uncapped players is around INR 4 crores, and not more than that.
